Default Grip Identification

I picked up a set of grips at the gunshow last weekend. The seller couldn't even tell me what they fit, so I offered him $5 and he took it. When I got home I dropped them onto an old 38/44 and they fit like a glove. These may be the best feeling N frame grips I've ever owned. Now the questions... who made them and where can I get some more? They seem to be Sandersons, but I've never seen any made by him that didn't have a thumbrest. There is 1 square hole and the number 7 stamped on each panel. So if any of you have any ideas of their origin, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

They are INDEED grips made by "Sanderson".
Nice score.
Here's a set that I just bought w/o the thumbrest

Thank you for the information. All I knew when I picked them up was that they fit a S&W of some kind and that they were old and custom. Every once in a while it pays off to take a chance with $5.

They look like Sanderson grips to me too.

... and they didn't all have thumb rests.

Yep classic Sanderson, I have a couple of pairs of them in K and N frame, super cool price on a nice old classic custom target grip!

Just sent you a PM, would love to make a trade for these or buy them outright if you want to sell them. I would really like a pair without the thumbrest and I have lots of factory pre and post war grips to trade? I have a mint pair of N frame Sandersons we might be able to work a deal on.
Thanks!
Matt
