I have a military smith marked usmc with a lanyard loop on the butt. smooth grips, no model number on the gun also us property marked. s/n 206xxx. cal 45 double action, hand eject. any info on the gun would help, i think it was issued for the Phillipine theater.
Welcome to the Forum. Post some pictures, please. From your description, I think you have a Model 1917 revolver in caliber .45acp not .45 Colt caliber. The .45acp rounds are loaded via half moon clips. This model was made between 1917 and 1946. Your serial number is at the last of the production range. The USMC stamp is not factory, but was added by a later owner, possibly the US Marine Corps, but beware of fakes. Ed.
