I've got a project gun (Mod 27, 3 1/2", factory nickel, Serial # S210692) shown below. It was re-nickeled at some point including both the hammer and trigger. I've replaced the hammer and trigger with the stock case hardened ones that it should have shipped with and removed the nickel from the rear site. I've got a pretty poor set of cokes that I'll add after I've had them reworked. Now I'm trying to locate a box but I'm not sure exactly what one would have looked like.
The gun shipped in Oct. 1961. The SCSW noted that post-war models shipped in pre-war .357 magnum (blue-purple with red interior) and later in a gold two piece box and finally the two piece blue box of many variations.
The SCSW does not specifically mention use of any of the gray boxes for nickel guns for the model 27 but I'm thinking this likely would have been a pre-bangor box in either blue or gray..probably blue. Just wanting to see if anyone had seen one this early in a gray box that can confirm.
Thanks..

Yep....I used that beautiful Shoo-Boy hammer to remove the sear pin from the hammer when I swapped them out.
