Default Can someone help me identify this revolver?

Most of the wording is wore off the barrel but i can almost makeout what looks like springfield, mass USA

the next line down it looks like

"01 DEC 1" and the rest is unreadable also. Any information you can give me would be greatfully appreciated.

Well Sir, you have what appears to be a pre-war, possibly pre-WWI, M&P revolver. The roll marks seem to be wore off due to heavy buffing during a refinish, and the grips were heavily sanded too. Based on the serial you provided I would have to guess it is a .38 Special and was probably built between 1915 and 1920.

Since it has been refinished, its value is as a shooting (instead of collector's) gun. If mechanically sound, it is probably worth about $200.

Its a 1916 gun.

Refinished doesn't begin to describe the damage to the surface - its
been brutalized. There is not a sharp edge/corner left. Its about
a $125 gun, maybe $150 to some unsuspecting soul.
