Default Looking for a fair value on a 1917 Military

Came across a 1917 Military in pristine condition. The only issue is a very slight thinning of the blue on the backstrap. The rest of the gun looks factory new. Timing is perfect. Lockup is solid on all six. No end shake. Tight B/C gap. Bore is mirror bright as if it had never been shot. Frame around the firing pin hole indicates very light use. Grips are original and in excellent condition. Seller is asking $1300 and while that appears to be in line with or slightly below Bluebook I'd appreciate your input. Since your discussion on the pre-27 was so lively, I expect this one to be on par. Thanks.

Would be interesting to know a few more details, but Seller will get his price. I suggest buying it before it goes up.

Does it have a grooved hammer?
What acceptance stamps and other markings does it have?
Could you describe the stocks? (IE, concave at the top, ...)

Hammer is not grooved. The grips, smooth wood not checkered, thinned down to only a little wider than frame width at the top. Not really concave. I did not notice any acceptance stamps except for US Army on the butt next to the serial number.

I paid more than that for one just a tiny bit better than what you describe about six months ago. (Mine has the grooved hammer, concave stocks and GFS cartouche, all of which makes it early and contributed to the value the seller and I agreed it had.) If the parts all number together, I'd say go for it at $1300. My sense is that 1917s are rising in popularity and price over the last year. I doubt you will find one in that condition at a lower price from an informed seller.

Default Update

Well, I got the gun for $1300. It's marked United States Property on the bottom of the barrel. It has a smoking grenade proof stamp at the top of the left frame near the rear sight. The grips are not scalloped but gently rounded off at the top. Serial Number is 1116XX. Any idea when it was made?

There's a web site that dates military firearms, and they say serial numbers in this range shipped in September 1918.

Default Website to date military weapons?

Can someone tell me where the website is that dates the 1917 revolver? My 1917 is sn4585, all matching numbers with concave grips(numbered to gun) and GHS acceptance stamp, Gov't property stamped.
