Has Anyone Seen Sight Adjustment Tools Like These?
I've had these for several years and I'm really not even sure where I got them but I've wondered for some time now just what they are. Maybe reproductions??
As you can see the two on the left are correct & original S&W SATs, and I'm unsure what the two on the right are. The handles on both are aluminum and the one has more of an aged look to it like it's been around for some time.
The knurled area is longer and the entire length of the tool is too. They measure 3.5" in overall length. The finish and the blade on the shaft looks correct but the knurled handle is certainly different than a correct one is.

S&W Screwdriver
If you do a search on the word Screwdrivers, you'll get LOTS of threads to look through!

All may be correct. The two on the left have 8 rows of knurling and the 2 on the right have 9 rows. I think both are correct according to some posts I have seen. Someone more knowlegeable will come along. I have enough trouble with how many screws the guns are supposed to have.

Tom,
On the left, you have 8 rows.
On the right, you have 9 rows.
Here is a 9 row that walked up to my table at Tulsa.
3.290 inches long overall-

The issue that raised my concern is no the number or rows of knurling, but the fact that the knurling has a different 'shape' to it, which has me wondering if these are correct or not.

Tom,
I understand that- it obviously appears finer on the right.
Have you counted the teeth on the two variants?
I think SAT's simply vary a lot. Roy has said in the past they were made in house. I think they were made without much in the way of jigging that would keep them constant.
Knurling is done with a tool just for the purpose. On some batches, simply grabbing a finer tool would account for the variation.

Here are the black oxide versions of the 8 & 9 row tools. The 8 ring came with my '48 K-38 and the 9 came with my '53 K-22. I have no reason to question their authenticity.

I believe what we are looking for in this thread is to verify if the SATs on the right hand side of photo in the OP are original S&W SATs. Therefore, if anyone can verify that they have a like same SAT that came with one of their guns we would appreciate your input.

The mystery may be solved. Here is a photo of one of handejector's SATs. Note on the right end it shows two different styles of knurling. Clearly the knurling tool was changed during the process. Most importantly the last two rows of knurling match that of the knurling in question by the OP. I think we have now established that S&W did have at least two styles of knurling.
