Default Help For A Beginner

I'm new to S&W collecting and was wondering if someone could give me some help with a new 38 spl revolver I just picked up. It is the 5 screw model with a pinned barrel. There is no model number on the gun, only the serial number C 3360XX. Is this a model 10 and can you tell me the year of manufacture? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. This would be a pre-model 10. Someone will be along and have the date of manufactrure for you.

Your gun probably shipped in 1955. That's a couple of years before the company introduced the numbered model designations. This gun is an example of what would later be called the Model 10 -- the fixed-sight K-frame .38 special, or .38 Military & Police.
