H.H. Harris Shipped Guns
I was reading Aspenhill's post on the light lug H.D. shipped to H.H. Harris in Chicago [ Light Lug Heavy Duty for Christmas ] and got to thinking that Harris ordered and received some very interesting guns. IIt would be interesting to see some of the unusual guns shipped to H.H. so I will start with two of mine. A nickel Model 48, never cataloged in this finish. The second is an early Model 60 that included a stainless hammer, trigger, emblems and grip screw fittings. It was a bright polished gun but time has dulled it a bit. Please feel free to post other guns.

H.H. Harris guns
I've got several revolvers that shipped to H.H. Harris, but this Model 53 is the rarest one I suppose.

Very nice guns! I don't know whether HH Harris ordered the guns or he was the conduit for S&W to dispose of overruns and other "oddball" items the factory had come up with.
My 2 cents.

He ordered his guns in a very special way. Many/most had RR and WO sights, they often had Rosewood smooth target stocks or smooth presentation stocks, and they were often unique barrel lengths and finishes....nickel 5" 29 for example.

Harris had a shop located just south of the old Chicago Police HQ at 1121 S. State St. He probably equipped 75% of the PD in the 70s and was an interesting fellow. Another big distributor in Illinois is Gil Hebard who still has his business in Knoxville, Illinois. Though now in his 90s he still works 5 days a week.

My H.H. Harris Smith is a M25 no dash 6.5" barrel .45 ACP shipped 26 Sept 60. My first thought when I got the letter is what the heck is a 6.5" .45 doing in Chicago?

In keeping with his fondness for 5" bbl length, our H. H. Harris story would not be complete without at least one 5" K-38 Heavy Masterpiece. And since no one else has posted one I guess it's up to me.
Most of the 5" K-38 Heavy Masterpieces we've seen in past threads were among the 470 special ordered by the Illinois State Police and direct shipped to them in 1957. What's of special interest about K271846 is it was shipped to H. H. Harris more than a year prior to the three direct shipments yet (as reported by Roy) was part of that order. I'm hoping to learn more about how many were in this July 1956 shipment.
Note the earlier style "speed" hammer . . . all other ISP 5" K-38s that I've seen are the later standard hammer.

Thank you so much. He recently made Life Scout and started his Eagle Scout project a few days afterward. All A's in school and makes me proud. Twelve years old, close to 6ft tall and all muscle.
Hope all is well at your end.

A welcome return for an interesting specimen thread...
This gun is one of the 196 Regulation Police target revolvers made up in a special run in the late 1950s mostly from left-over prewar parts. The serial number is 657356, and it shipped to Harris on April 4, 1959; it's about to celebrate its 55th birthday.

I am going to resurrect this old thread. Roy did special letters for members at the SWCA meeting. I had him do a K-22 and it was shipped to Harris in July of 57. The only thing odd about the gun is that K frame grips do not fit right.
