Default 1959 Nickle 4" 29 no dash + Colt 22 DB

Interesting stuff does pop up at our local Gunshow....

The ones that had me drooling this weekend were a 4" no dash Nickel 29 SN# S 207 XXX in wood presentation box with tools, no cardboard box or docs but wearing nice Coke grips and a blue Baughman ramp.
Slightly used condition maybe at 94% ...in need of a good polish but no major finish issues with an ask of $1500.00....

Although not a S&W he also had a used but LNIB Colt Diamondback 4" blued .22lr from 1968? with factory wood grips asking $1800.

Claiming they were both consignment items that the new inherited owner set the prices off of GB and not having the luxury of instant research....
I had enough to offer $1800 for the pair with misc tax and TX fees.
Unfortunately prices were not negotiable that day...

Although Im definately not interested at $3300 plus tax for the pair I got the dealers contact info ....assuming they would not sell .
Anyone care to speculate ?

I'd say that the 4" nickel gun is a good deal, and I'd be figuring a way to buy it. I don't believe that they came with the cardboard box on guns this early, but I may be wrong about that. If it is a clamshell case, that would be a very good deal to me as long as all the gun needs is a little TLC with some Flitz. According to the SCSW the serial number should place it in the '60 time frame. I have S 2082XX that shipped in March of '61.

I am not a Colt guy, but that seems kinda high for a Diamondback. I know where I can buy a couple in excellent shape for a lot less than that.

I have been looking for a nice 4" blued 29-2 and did see the blued one sell on GB at that price.

Although early 4" nickel guns have a premium and all it needed was a good Flitzing ...I am just not that huge a fan of Nickel.

If it was blued I probably would have bought it....

That .22 DB was about double what you can get them for in these parts.
