32/20 1905 4th change
When my Grandfather died I received his 32/20 wcf revolver. Problem, it had a bulge in the 6" barrel and at least 2 rounds in it. I paid a gunsmith to clear barrel but he said there was a small crack in bore and recommended not shooting it. Is there any way to over bore barrel and chrome line it so it can shoot a 32/20 cartridge or do I have a wall hanger?

Blee, I don't think there is enough barrel thickness to warrant a reline. A better solutionis to get another barrel and have the gunsmith install it. Although not original, it will be functional and safe. You can search the gun parts dealers or advertise here for one. Forgot to say Welcome. Lots of good folks and a wealth of knowledge, freely given. Stay and enjoy.

Welcome to the forum. I think it might be cheaper to try to find an old barrel and have it mounted to the gun. I'm not sure I'd ever completely trust a bulged and cracked barrel, no matter how carefully it was rebuilt.
I understand why you might not want to put alien parts on a family heirloom, so you could have the best of both worlds if you retired your grandfather's revolver and bought an identical gun to shoot.
Can you post pics? There are some .32-20 fans around here. (I'm one.)

Yes - the barrel can be relined, but its not inexpensive. Dave Chicoine
did one for me years ago. A better solution is to try to find another
barrel.

BLee,
I have a cutdown nickel 4" .32-20 barrel with no front sight. If you would like to have it, you could have your front sight mounted on it.
Send me a PM with your address and I'll mail it to you.
