5 inch 44spl set - 1st & 2nd Range Report added
Just picked up a 44 HE 2nd Model at my favorite LGS and since they had just sold my Remington 3200 I told them to save the ink for the check and apply it straight to the 44. It’s all numbers matching to include the stocks with some honest and some dishonest wear. A previous owner decided to scratch his initials and a date into the frame but oh well. Now I have 5 inchers for the 1st-3.5 models (the pre war 3rd model shipped as a 5” at least).

Very nice score!! I recently had a $350 bid in on a nickel 2nd model 44 spcl. with 6.5 ich barrel. It was slightly rough but all numbers other than grips matched. If it wasnt the holidays i would have done the $375 buy now but somebody else did. Im afraid I let $25 get in the way of me buyng a good shooter!! The seller stated he had a gunsmith make a mainspring so it could function so on that I was not going over $350. Your trio is pretty nice, and a lot of fun to shoot I am sure. Enjoy!

Thanks Mark. Having just sold two 3rd models (thanks Earl!), I wasn’t exactly planning on picking up a 2nd Model. But credit at the LGS is a dangerous thing.

Looks like the blue 3rd Model is leading the discussion at a group meeting.

In my opinion Naval personal, Airdale's in particular, have the best taste in collectable firearms.

Finally got out to the range with the two I hadn’t shot yet. The TL appears to be one of my best shooters in the whole collection. 105 years hasn’t slowed it down a bit.
The top target was with the stags but I need to do some smoothing at the top as the edge beats up my hand a bit.
The bottom target was after swapping the carved up targets over and is about half SA and half DA.
The 2nd Model was a great shooter also especially with the flat top sights which I prefer over the round top. Also a huge difference with the original service stocks compared to the target stocks on the TL.
The pre war snub went out too and wasn’t quite as spot on as the N Frames at 15 yds but a blast to shoot.
It was a great day despite only being in the high 20’s out there.
