The Repair/Refinish "Star"
I was going through some S&W documents I purchased at a local gun show and found this interesting repair/refinish ticket for Registered Magnum. Since there has been quite a bit of interest in the "star" stamped on the butt and other selected parts, I thought I would post this photo of it. I believe the ticket dates to late 1940 or early 1941.

Cool Bill...I wonder if 58802 is still around. Did you happen to look the number up in the SWHF data?

That gun could not have been more than 2 years old and it is being refinished? I wonder what happened to it?

I checked and 58802 is not in the database. 58800 is there however.

Hard to tell, SP. A friend of mine bought a new M29 in 1978 and his girlfriend spilled some Coca-Cola on it. Took the blue right off. Makes you wonder what it does to our stomachs when we drink it.

And That Star Would Look Like This........
This one is my RM 4752. Barrel was originally a 4 inch with Baughman ramp. It's been back to the factory 3 times prior to 1952. I need to get a better letter from Roy, giving him the specific dates so he knows when to look.

He won't look.
Your letter will have the initial shipping data, and nothing about the repairs.
Repair invoices were filed alphabetically by the gun owner's name. Roy will not look thru 3 months of invoices hunting your serial number.
