Wondersight
 

Just got through installing the Wondersight on a post-war M&P 38. Took a couple of minutes.
This is a VERY well made product. Vast improvement in sight picture,and fully adjustable. Now I think I'll be able to really enjoy this old revolver. Can't wait to get her to the range.BTW It cost $38.00

I agree. I have put them on a couple of my fixed sight, 5 screw revolvers, and am thinking of buying 1 or 2 more.

Please give us a range report when you've tried it out.

I do not know what a 'Woner Sight' is or ooks like..!

Query - I should think that the WS would need to be higher than the notch at rear to give a clear field for adjustment. If so, then the point of impact will be significantly higher on the target.

Or is the WS notch narrower, so you are still sighting through the notch in the M&P frame, but with refined precision?

The FDL Wondersights have been around for a good 45 years. The good thing with the 5 screw Smith & Wesson revolvers is that you get a fully adjustable sight without affecting the originality of the gun. First thing I did when I got my Brazilian 1917 was to put a Wondersight on it. Sure makes it easier to line up sights.

I wish they'd update it so it would fit an N frame with firing pin mounted in the frame.

I just got mine Monday. Ordered it Thursday... Mines going on my 1917 that shoots low and left. If it works out (and I don't know why it wouldn't) I have a .38 M&P that'll get one as well.

I plan to get 2 of them for shooter grade worn looking M&P's. I personally wouldn't put it on a super nice fixed sight S&W that shoots fine with the stock sights but I have a couple old ones that hit left or low.

I have two of them and I use them on a pair of pre 1930 Hand Ejectors. They shoot like target pistols with those old half-moon blades settled in the notch of the Wondersight.

It takes a bit of doing to get the elevation dialed-in, but it's worth the trouble.

The Wondersight doesn't mar the finish at all, and can be removed and replaced with the original bug screw in a few seconds.

There's no point in using the Wondersight if you're not going to shoot out past 25 yards. Mine are zeroed in at 50.

I remember buying my first Wondersight from F.D.L. around 1975. Paid $9.95 from an ad in the back of "Guns and Ammo". I put it on my first 1917 and it's still there...

My personal experience with the Wondersight is not so good. I bought a very nice 1920s-era M&P a few months ago, and it had a Wondersight mounted on it. At my first range trip, it became obvious that the sight could not be lowered enough to zero at 25 yards with the existing front sight, and it was hitting, as I remember, about 6"-7" high. No question that the sight picture is vastly better than the fixed sights, but one would have to adopt a different sight picture to compensate for the amount it shoots high. I took the Wondersight off and replaced the bug screw. It was not too easy to find one of those, but one of the members here helped me out by selling me one. When I removed it, I noted there was a small amount of frame scratching under the Wondersight, not bad, but it does bother me. Just be aware of what to expect if you mount one - and make sure you put the bug screw someplace safe.

On my old 5 screw M&P shooters, I put black electrical tape on the back of the Wondersight plate that mounts with the large top screw on the side plate and trim the excess before installation. Never had any trouble with scratching the side plate and the Wondersight base never slips after tightening. Gary
