Used a powerful chemical stripper to get the old finish off.
It was a jelly that you paint on and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Then I sanded with 400P 3x Norton sandpaper.
Then apply the first light coat of Tru-Oil, I diluted 3 parts Tru-Oil with one part mineral spirits, but this is not necessary. I applied with a paper towel folded till it is fairly small.
Then you wait at least an hour until completely dry. half a day is best.
Then sand it with the 400P sand paper.
Then repeat Tru-Oil and sanding at least 5 coats.
The last coat is put on very thin and rubbed with long strokes from end to end.
