K-22 Masterpiece Model 17-1 Question
My Gun Values book says Add 25% for 17-1 Model, but does not state why. Were there fewer numbers produced? Anyone know the background?

Yes, any of the carbon steel -1 variations in both K and N frame bring a premium due to small production numbers.

So if I stamp a little 1 after my Mod 17 it'll be worth more?

I paid the +25% because most of the -1's were made in my birth year. Here it is with its K38 and K32 brothers

K frame dash 1s were made for about one year before the next design change which brought about dash 2s. So that's a short run.
There are no known K 32 model 16-1s.

The change to the -1 models was primarily during 1960-61. The modification was changing the ejector rod from right hand to left hand thread to prevent the rod from backing out during recoil. By 1962 the -2 models had another engineering change. So the -1 models were only made for about one year, which makes them somewhat scarce.
