Extremely nice. I bet you are going to love it. In fact, I bet you love it already.
I found a similar six-inch Pre-27 a year or so back -- not good enough to be a collector gun, but at the high end of shooter grade. I got it some Kurac stocks and have plans for it that may include a new front sight. I also picked up a five-inch barrel with a gold bead front sight on it already, so I have some options. The shorter barrel does not have the front locking pin in the shroud, so I will have to go to a ball detente system for the yoke if I put that one on. This one will be one of my laboratory guns.
Yours looks really good! Nice score.

This one was an 8 3/8" that had a superb DA trigger...I wanted another 6". So I went through the S&W parts drawer at the Academy (when we still had a revolver parts drawer), found a nice 6" barrel, and had Jim Hoag install it. Shoots exactly like a nice 27-2 6", and I'm happy. Love the 27.

NICE,
I just picked one up as well but with the Baughman site.
Model 27's are the best.

Very nice. Great pics as well.
I have a Python. And I have 5 M27-2s and 4 M586s. I'd always take them over a Python for serious work. And I like my Python but I think the M27-2 or Pre-M27 is as fine as any Python.

Very nice. The stocks are from a slightly later vintage model 27 (likely a -2) and would not be numbered; it probably had diamond Magnas from the factory. Enjoy!

gr8smiles, those are great photos of a great N frame.
I jumped on the 6 inch ( and change ) Mod 27 bandwagon with this -2...
... and it puts 158gr LHP's in the smallest circle on the target of any big revolver I have.

Nice...
gr8smiles, excellent rescue of a beautiful pre-27. I am certain it is happier now that it will be properly appreciated.

Very nice pre 27, be careful those things have a way of multiplying somehow in the gunsafe. I put one in my safe a few years ago and now ther are six, not sure how that happened.
