Default 44 H.E. 3rd Model 5 inch added to my collection-June 1938

I got the call today from my local shop telling me he had a gun on hold for me that just came in earlier today. It is a pretty nice 2nd model .44 H.E. with a 5 inch barrel. The sn is 55636. I am waiting for the ship date but I am guessing 1940 from the others I have seen in this sn range. It will go nicely with my 2nd model. i found out it shipped June 1938. Now for that Triple Lock.......

Here is my 2nd Model again. It was am Illinois State Prison gun.

Jim,
If the first gun pictured is your new gun, it sure looks like a 3d model to me!

That's what you get for typing ahead of your intention!

Both nice guns. Congratulations on the new one. 1940 is reasonable, but the gun could be as early as 1938.

Brain phart-I ment 3rd model. I thought about what I posted when I was at the cowboy bar with my son having a cold adult beverage and a plate of Chili cheese fries.

Sir.
Nice .44. I have S 68675 Aug 1946. I have started to notice more fixed sight guns in my gun safe. I don't go looking for them, sometimes they just look nice and I buy them.

Talking Neato!

This 5" .44 HE2nd is 57,817 and letters as shipped on November 6, 1939.

Like my Brother Bill, I've also got a Postwar .44 HE3rd, and it's only a few numbers off from his...

Mine is S 68,940...

I've not lettered this gun, but I believe it to also be a 1946.

Stop! Please stop!

These 5" 44 Specials are driving me nuts. I have some but seeing these (particularly the OP gun) makes me want more. (smile)

Default Mine is not far off...

My 5" .44 HE is SN 55405, I guess early 1938...Not much finish remaining,
oing to cold blue it just to keep it from getting worse. Locks up pretty well, just looks very well used...

Personally, I won't cold blue it. It only has the original finish one time. Just clean it up and either keep it oiled or wax it.

Pictures are nice too (hint, hint)!
