Default M53 to share.

Very expensive, but they are not getting any cheaper. Absolutely unused,(mint), first year, M53 no dash, 4 screw. No box, but did get the inserts. Ser.# 444444.No XXX's. That alone has got to be worth a few $$$. Investment grade, as it will be a Safe Queen never to be fired. Sure is a pretty revolver. Big Larry

Holy smoke! That serial number floored me! How did you stumble upon that one?

Nice!
I guess you won't be needing my spare (upper and lower) firing pins, eh?

I checked the Merz site and I think you did just fine at that price. Full mint kits with the box, docs, tools and extra cylinder have been in the $2000 neighborhood for a couple of years. Factory new gun and inserts at the Merz price are consistent with that.

Thanks Dave. He sold it to me for $1,250 shipped. Sometimes we do have to pay the Piper. Last year I thought I overpaid for a 4 digit K22 one liner with large ejector knob. 99% gun, 25% box for $825. Every time I take it out and look at it, I get the heebee jeebees as to what it is and what condition it is in. I was very lucky in my opinion. Thanks, Big Larry

Larry,
Very cool. You sure you don't want to put a hand full a rounds through it? I might make a special trip down your way and fire my almost NIB first year 53 too. I'm guessing you were on that site looking for Winchesters, am I right?

Actually,no. I was looking for a M17 with a 8 3/8" bbl. Found a few very expensive dash 4's some pinned and some non pinned. I waited it out and a member of this forum and I are making a trade on a very nice M17-3, 8 3/8" with three "T"s. I have owned several Jets in my life and even won a 100 yard running deer turkey shoot against a Air Force Distinguished pistol shot using one. He had sold me his spare ticket and it was the last shoot of the day. His was not a happy camper. Big Larry

I have an 8-3/8" Model 53 4 screw that's a real blast to shoot. Mine isn't unfired, but it's in very nice condition. The .22 Jet is just too much fun to shoot (unless you have an unfired safe queen). I'm hoping to plant the seed for you to look for a nich shooter grade 53 to go with the one you just got...

Bought this complete 8 3/8" Model 53 serial K44407x at auction recently for about the same aas you paid for yours, plus shipping. It is not unfired so I put 50 rounds downrange this week. Shoots like a laser. The people who built these guns were craftsmen.

P.S. Larry come to Colorado and you can shoot my 6" M53 with both cylinders, very accurate and great trigger.

I'll be a tease here and offer to send you six factory Remington 40 grain factory cartridges on the condition you shoot them. It's an experience you don't want to miss.

You guys!!!! I have a full box of period ammo for the gun. I collect period ammo for all my guns rifle and pistol. I like glenncal1's purchase. Beautiful set. Years ago I sent one to S&W. I bought a 6" beater for $145 at a sporting goods store I worked at part time. I had a 4" and 8" bbl. fitted and numbered to the gun. Also a 22 LR cylinder fitted, and three "T"s factory installed. Then had the whole set nickel plated. I wonder where that gun is today. As a big nickel fan, I had all the 8" guns of the time factory nickeled and RR and W/O sights added. All gone now. Big Larry

I had been looking at one of these at a local pawn shop for about three years. The guy still has it and is asking $795 for it. I had been considering an offer around $500 because it's a little rough, not bad, just not well cared for. My procrastinating worked out ok as I just bought one off GB for $505 with a 2x scope and the condition is much better. No box or inserts, but I have a K22 so I may not worry about them. I do plan on shooting it.

If anyone knows of reasonably priced 4" for sale I would appreciate the lead.
