When did the 30-1 start and end?
Well? I have a buddy who has one and it is in 32 S&W. Round butt three inch.

30-1
The 30-1 began in 1961 with J frame production at serial 712954. Discontinued in 1976.

S&W changed the model 30 to model 30-1 in 1961 and dropped the model 30 line in 1976. Suprica's book does not show them ever making a 30-2.

You have a highly unusual 30-1 and a real oxymoron!! Could be mismarked and wouldn't be the 1st time. The gun you show is an I frame, but the -1 engineering change denotes the switch to the J frame at about serial # 712954. What's the serial number or partial number?

good eye, hondo! MY BAD! my 1962 vintage vision hit the wrong thumbnail! that is actually a 1957 vintage model-marked 30. here is the 1962 vintage 30-1. (it has evidently held up better than me!!!)
