I think you should send it back to Kansas City!
That is a beauty! Congrats on finding it.

The sky is overcast today so I tried to take photos out side to keep from getting flash from camera or reflection of the sun but still not happy with photos. This is the best one I got.

Very nice! Do you have any of its history from its arrival at KCPD until you found it?

Now the question everybody is going to ask. Are you going to shoot it or does it hide in a safe?

What a rare find - an unfired KCPD .357. Just beautiful! Please tell us more about how you ended up with it.
Thanks,
Jerry

Sweet, looking at the turn lines on the cylinders I would think it has been shot a little. I love the prewar .357's Thanks for posting the pictures, are you going to get it lettered?

The gun has been lettered that is how I know it shipped in 1940 to KCPD. Only tattooing is around the firing pin area and it is very light mark.

I think so, too. Factory test rounds will not cause that moderate amount of turn line. But the gun obviously has only been lightly fired and is in terrific condition.
Congratulations on a great find. I hope you enjoy it!

Do the grips number to the gun?
Most of the KCPD guns were reblued at one time, and it's odd to find one with grips which number to the gun, as they were often swapped or replaced when worn.
I have one which is also un-refinished, but mine shows some wear and has non-matching numbered grips.
At any rate, that is an exceptional find.

Thanks for the additional pictures. The logo looks proper, and correct.
I deleted my two messages about the logo.

Would any of the experts here hazard a guess on value of this one, assuming original finish, stocks, etc? An absolutely gorgeous revolver.

WOW, what a great find. Now let me guess....you found it at a local garage sale under a stack of used kids clothes.
Register or non-registered, no matter when the condition is like that. thanks for the pictures.

Eh.......bad refinish-maybe worth $500 tops as a shooter. Tell you what-I'll give you $650 which should cover the shipping. PLEASE wrap it carefully.
