.38 s&w is the caliber. looks to have been
blued. it's a .38 single action 2nd model....

JC, what you have there is a S&W .38 (This is not .38 Special) Single Action 2nd Model.

It has a 5 shot fluted cylinder, 3-1/4" barrel, pinned front sight, black rubber S&W grips and nickel finish.

I knew it was a .38 and not a .32 because of the size of the cylinder and the square butt.

It was manufactured from 1877 to 1891 with some 108,255 units made.

Your gun was likely made in the mid 1880's.

I would think your gun would go for $175.00 +/-

*Note: It appears the original screw is missing from the barrel hindge.

Nice gun, I'd be happy to have it in my modest collection.

Mike, I stand corrected.... the gun has a round butt vs. the birdshead of the .32 SA.

Thanks for pointing that out since I try to be as accurate as possible.
