Default Question on Baby Chief's

Since I'm pretty ignorant anyway, what grips will fit a Baby Chief?
Are the grips only made for this model, or will j-frame or i-frame grips fit?? I've got my eye on one, and not happy with the grips.
Thanks for reading. TACC1

I believe the early Baby Chiefs take the same grips as the Terrier. The I frame girp is slightly shorter in height + 1/8 inch.

Most Baby Chiefs came with magnas.
Those magnas are for the short grip frame that ALL the small frame guns had before 1953-54.

The Baby has a short grip frame like the I frames discussed here-

Default Thank you for the Help.

If worse comes to worst, I'll shorten some j-frame grips. I'm
pretty eager to get this particular gun. I won't go so far as to carving-up a good 2x4, but I'll perservere 'til I get it right. TACC1

Tacc1, if you end up with the BC let me know, it's possible I have a set of RB diamonds for the I frame laying back, I'll look. I took a mint set off my improved I frame .32 but am keeping them but i think I have another set.

The bottom border and checkering of a shortened set of J frame stocks will not look right on an I frame, so I think finding an original set for the I frame would be better.

Hey TACC1, I thought I had "snuck up on" that Baby Chief. I'm not sure I want it as badly as you seem to, 'cause I'm really still looking first and foremost for un-improved I-frames. BTW, I ran up on some unfinished Jay Scott grips (finger groove smooth combat style) for these little guys at OGCA today and I am still wondering why the heck I didn't buy them all up.

This is a Pre 30, I frame. It has the same grip frame as you speak of. I shortened a pair of walnut boot grips to fit. They worked well until I found a period correct set of grips which it now wears.
