Every once and a while one slips past without too much notice. Then again, it's summer and not the best time of year to list items on ebay so someone was fortunate enough to snag this one.

Good deal for someone. Did you read the auction description where it said "This was in an old S&W Smith & Wesson Black Revolver Box (box was dry rotted and thrown away)". Another one thrown on the trash heap. What a shame.

I saw this one but didn't know enough to know what it was. I suspected it might be for an RM but it looked slightly different than the version listed in the Standard Catalog so for me the risk was to great.

I watched it all the way to the end. I told a guy at the gunshow about it yesterday before the auction ended. He had an identical one on his table for a grand. Too big a risk for me too and I knew what it was.. Also,I don't have a RM and never will.

Isn't there more than one version of the S&W screwdriver and some worth more than others?

It's still amazing to me how much someone will pay for one of these, but I guess if you have everything but the screwdriver, you just have to have it.

Yes. They can be worth less than $10 to several hundred dollars.

What alot of you are missing is the fact that these Screwdrivers were not designed exclusively for Registered Magnums!! This Screwdriver is "Correct" for most all Pre-War Target-Sighted S&W Revolvers back as far as the Late 20's-Early 30's,possibly earlier!! The only exception being the Second Model K-22 Masterpieces that came with a Slightly Larger Knurled "Nickeled" Steel Handle with a Larger Shaft & Redesigned Blade Tip to fit the New "Micrometer" Sight introduced on this Model!! I just thought some of you out there might like to be aware of this in case you're wondering what Screwdriver came with your Early S&W Target Revolvers!!
