Default Older M-15 & +P loadings

I recently picked up a nice older M-15, #K1178XX which I believe puts it in the 1951 range or so. I believe that it's a reblue just because the S&W logo is a bit faded & it has newer magna stocks on it not the period diamond magna's, but all of the other markings are fairly sharp and the blueing is excellent. Also, the lock up is tight and the timing is spot on, so it is going to be a shooter. The question is, would occasional +P loadings bother this old K frame or not?

tks, c4

No. Awhile back, when the LAPD still used revolvers, the issue load was +P (and pretty warm). Duty guns (K38s), some going back to the early 50's, were shot regularly with +P ammo on qualification. No issues.

Model numbers weren't used until 1957 so your 1951 gun can't be a Model 15. It would have to be a Combat Masterpiece and factory +P is loaded well below maximum allowable pressure and is fine in any quality made revolver manufactured after steel tempering became commonplace (late 1920s so I use 1930 as my cut off date).
