Default Pre Model 28 Highway Patrolman

Trying to post pics of recent acquisition. Heavens, I think I may have succesfully posted a pic. Serial # S131967. Should I shoot it? Why have a gun if you can't shoot it? I posted a thread on this gun before, but this is the first picture of ANYTHING I have been able to post to the forum.

Regards
Bill

Nice Highway Patrolman. It has been shot before, one gathers. Careful shooting and cleaning will keep it in that same excellent condition for a long time.

Enjoy your find!

Regards,

Dyson

Oh yes, it has been shot before, but being 1st or second year of issue I am somewhat reluctant to shoot it. Given the fact that I have another S prefix from 1960 and an N from 1970 I may not heat this one up too much. It obivously has a turn line and just a tad of holster wear on barell end and points of cylinder. It is just a great old warhorse, one of my favorites out of all my Smiths.

Regards

Bill

Default Nice one

Bill,

Nice HP. I've been wondering who bought it. I drop by the shop that had it on consignment every so often. It wasn't there last time I stopped in. It is a very nice 5 screw. I looked it over, but just couldn't come up with the $$$. Congrats.

Keith,

That is a beaut. Do you know date of shipment? It is about 700 earlier than mine.

Bill

I don't rightly know when it shipped...Till I wound-up on this here froum,
I didn't know about all this letterin & shippin dates.

Never a curr'd to me when one was made...Other than pre-war and post war short throw hammers, etc...

I was just packin 'em and usin 'em

Dave,

I think yours is probably first year of issue and mine early second year. 1954-1955.
