Value of a marked 38/44 Model-20
Having read several threads concerning the marked Model-20 I wonder what the value would be for a decent condition 4in. model .

Thank you for your kind reply. The reason that I asked is , after reading a couple of the more recent threads on the Model 20's that were marked ,I thought it would be prudent to check against the HD's that I have in my collection. What started me accumulating Heavy Duties was the desire to have Hamilton Bowen convert a couple to 45 Colt and another to 44 Special. Now comes the tough part, out of the 10 or 15 HD's that I have you can guess where the only one marked Model 20 went. This happened several years ago and for that matter the results of Hamilton's fine gunsmthing has been pictured on this very forum under the heading of Bowen, Persinger and El Paso customs. The moral of the story is I should read the Forum more closely and hope I don't get kicked off for not being more careful in what I do. Thanks again, Joe.

Say it ain't so !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dang, no wonder no one can find a HD, with as many as you have. You and Aspenhill have cornered the entire production.
Nah, you're not gonna get kicked off, cause everybody here has messed up, probably more than once,, so no one left to pass judgment.
Does hurt though. I feel your pain.

Personally, I wouldn't consider a Bowen, Persinger conversion any kind of "mess-up". Particularly if it was to .44 Sp. or .45 Colt.

What can I say? I done it too! This started out as a 4". I had found a 5" .44 special model 21 barrel many years ago. I bought this gun cheap, nothing wrong with it, maybe 80%. Someone had watched too much tv and you could see where it looked like they pounded up a wanted poster on the bottom of the grips with the imprint of maybe 30 nail heads tapped in! I had a gunsmith friend rechamber the clyinder and swap barrels. Nothing more, no reblue. Someday I just might have this one reblued? It shoots just fine. I probley dont have $300 in it. I have many fine safe queens, but really this is the one that go`s with me some when I hit the trails on our ATV. I had it converted about 25 years ago and owned the barrel in waiting about 5 years before that.
