A Little Pre-27 Goodness
One of the members here was nice enough to post the whereabouts of a Pre-27 3 1/2" gun. I called that evening and was told to call back the next morning. That I did. And today, this is what the FedEx man brought to me. A nice example, all matching numbers, of a 1954 Pre-27. No box or tools. A few freckles and some wear. Been carried more than shot. Not the quality of 'handejectors' .44 Special, but I am pleased.

Looks like a nice piece, one you can shoot and not baby. The 3 1/2" N frame has that perfectly balanced look that really sets it apart. If you don't mind, how much was it?

Sweet 3.5" "Pre" 27 and you can shoot it without worrying about devaluing it....
Its 1954 and a man walks into a gunstore and says :
"I want a short barreled concealable S&W revolver capable of firing the .38 special cartridge".

Rick, glad it worked out for you. That is a nice gun and if I didn't already have one, you'd be looking at my pictures. I have been on a 25-20 kick here of late and acquired a Win 92 and a Marlin 1894 original so would've had to do some real hunkerin as Iggy puts it. Get a nice floral carved holster and let us know how she performs.

I almost made that call myself. I haven't been able to find a short barrel pre-27 locally. I am going to quit looking. Very nice...I'm jealous.

Hello gr8smiles
Nice Pre-27 with the Most desirable barrel length they ever offered being 3-1/2". Now you must search for it's Vanilla Brother being a Nickel Pre-27 with the 3-1/2" Barrel. Here is one that shipped in April 1955 that came to me a few year's ago. Nickel Pre-27's are scarse compared to the blued ones, this one Ought to Inspire you to enhance the Hunt for other's out there... Hammerdown
Or, The Original .357 Magnum a First year Registered Magnum that shipped In December 1935

That's a real nice 27. As far as any flaking, a little 0000 brass wool some kroil and a gentle massage followed by a coat of Renassiance and she'll be very happy.
HAMMERDOWN: Is that original finish on the reg mag or has it had a new paint job? If that is its original finish, it is amazing. If not, did you do it and if so where? Looks like Fords quality if it was redone.
