Default Nicest 1917 I have ever seen....

Was at the OGCA show in cleveland last weekend and this 1917 was a couple of row's over from us. First saw the gun on Friday night, figured it was a restored gun so I didn't give it much thought. Saturday morning rolls around and my good friend Craig was looking at it, comes back to the table and said it was an outstanding original 1917. Craig's 70 years old and has been collecting military firearms for 45 years and knows more than i will ever now about gun's. So it's now Sunday morning and back I went for another look, toke the grips off they where numbered as well the barrel, cylinder and back side of the ejector star. Toke out my magnifying glass and gave it a good once over. After all that we made the deal, this is the most outstanding 1917 I have ever see. Pictures do not do it any justice.

Default 1917

That's a real honey. Most of the 1917's we see around here look like they were used for a boat anchor. Great catch.

When I first saw the pictures I also thought refinished, but I guess not. I didn't make OGCA this time because I was set up at the Atlanta Eastman show. That would make a nice addition to anyone's collection. I need to start going up there more often. Great looking gun!

Hi George, it was a pleasure to have met you Sat. Nice gun, not sure I saw it on a table. There were a lot of S&W's at the show. One guy had a 22 PPC revolver for 550. Interesting, Larry

I heard abt the gun and went back to look for it and couldn't find it. Just wanted to see it and possibly buy it. Was it in nice shape? Some how I missed it. Larry
