First Nickel Plated Pre M27?
I was wondering the year in which the first Pre M27 was available in nickel. Thanks in advance for your input.

I believe it was 1950, as the Pre 27 is also know as Model of 1950. My Pre 27 shipped in 1950 to a hardware store in Seattle. It has 3 1/2" bbl and nickel finish, and letters as such. I may have a couple of guns worth more, but its may absolute favorite.

AFAIK the 357s became available in 1950 and the nickel finish was an option.
Seems everyone has one from 1950. Mine also shipped in September.

Pictures, Pictures
Any gun that pretty deserves a picture, no matter its year!!!
The nickel Smiths are beautiful.

You know, if the ol Nframe is homesick, I'd be happy to take it on a tour of Seattle for ya! I take it that it was lettered to Seattle Hardware? They were the primo Smith dealer up here for a lot of years. My folks bought my M94 Winchester christmas present for me when I was 13 at that store. My brother bought his 19-4 there the day after he turned 21. Their business went down and their property got too valuable so they went out of business many years ago. Seattle got too yuppie to have a quality gun/hardware store downtown! Here's an old picture

Schwabacher Hardware
The hardware store itself is closed, and the building is part of our historic Pioneer Square area. Here is an interesting Wiki article on the history of the family, and the Schwabacher businesses:
Schwabacher Brothers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And a picture of the old building as well, which is still there! Your gun was sold through an important business in early Seattle!
