Holster Recommendation for mid 50's Pre-27
I'm picking-up a 54'-55' Pre 27 with a 3 1/2" barrel. I wanted to find a good period correct style holster for it. This would be used for occasional CCW. New manufacture is fine.
I saw the Jerry Campbell pics of holsters, but wasn't sure if that would still be the fashion in the mid 50's?
What would you recommend? Any Pics? Thanks.

Keep you eyes open for a Berns-Martin Speed Scabard. IMO, it's the perfect period holster for a 3-1/2" .357 Magnum.
You'll have to find another one, this one's staying with me!

Holster
You may consider a classic "Three Persons ". That would be period correct. Contact Karla at purdygear.com, she can help. Sonora

Have a look at Keith's 'Sixguns' or get some Gun Digests from the 50s , should give you an idea what was out there.
I think both the Threepersons and the Berns Martin are good suggestions.
If you are looking for makers Lobo and Wyatt B do a good job on a Threepersons style or a Brill style (shown in the picture of the Campbell guns and leather).
Triple K does a N frame holster similar to a Jordan holster but with a thumb snap, price was good, mine was for a four inch but not to say not available for a 3.5.
I would have thought the 50s and earlier leather a little dated for CCW, although I am sure many would disagree with me.
For CCW I would look at a Kramer, nice and secure fast access , not too modern looking ?

Thanks for the recommendations.
I have a holster maker near me and I'll see what he has to offer or can make.

El Paso Saddlery, extra fancy floral[dyed back ground],fully triple laced edges, matching belt and a 6 or 12 round cartridge slide[not loops].Tom Threeperson's style holster[with hammer thong, not button strap]or the 1930 "Austin" style [with thong instead of button snap] would be my choices. This rig would look similar to the bottom holster and cartridge slide shown on the Jerry Campbell collection photo.I have a couple of Berns-Martin holsters similar to s&wchads. I am always looking to buy more Berns-Martin rigs.Tip: if for a 3 1/2" gun get a holster for a 4". When a 4" comes along you will be set for both. Nick

Another vote for Lobo Leather, El Paso Saddlery and I would also check Milt Sparks for a couple of "Classic" revolver holsters that are still in the catalog.

I think that the gun would look great in one of the holsters in my leather drawer. My suggestion would be to send me the gun and end all of your heartache.

Acquired these from our own SASABERANGER . . . thanks Thom.
