Default Ugly duckling

I have spruced up my new 38-44 and I couldn't be more happy with it. I got some target grips off ebay for $40 bucks with the buy it now button. I have seen too many people slapped down here for mis-identifying the elusive "cokes", so I ain't going to say it, but they do have a lot of checkering. I switched the cylinder stop to reduce the cylinder slop. That was an adventure, more dollars and hours than such a small thing would seem to merit at first glance. I got some critical help from member John Traveler on the smithing page, thank you John. The Mothers polish worked wonders on the old girl. There is quite a bit of nickel loss on the rear of the frame. Much is covered by the target grips and the pictures don't seem to show it well because the glare. Anyway, I am happy about this gun and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

The first picture is the auction picture.

Wow, great improvement.
Don't know if those are cokes for sure. They sure look right.
Not appropriate for the that gun, but I won't tell if you don't. They sure do look good on that ol timer.

I like it.

Definitely cokes. And great looking stags on the gun from the seller! Unless you paid $1,000 for the gun,you have done well.

Beagleye - So you're the one that outbid me for this mis-labeled Heavy Duty!! I was hoping that no one would find it amoungst the offerings at that auction.

It certainly cleaned up better than I thought it would, or I would have bid more. What did you use to polish up the nickel finish?

WOW!! ..... Is what comes to mind first of all.

Great old 38/44 and with scoring the "cokes" for $40 bucks you have done veeeeerrry well.

You should buy a lottery ticket while you are on this streak!!

I wish I could say sorry, but that would be huge lie. I drove down to Statesville to bid and once I saw the perfect bore, I was prepared to go to a lot higher than the $325 that took it (plus fees).

Who cares if they were original grips, they sure look user friendly to me and that gun is a sweetheart for sure.
