Just picked up my round top m1937 brazilian. I bought it about 10 years ago and traded it away. I tracked it down last week and manage to buy it back for not much more than the original trade value. It's in better than remembered condition, #2077xx, cylinder is mismatched, barrel matched frame number. The holster is a repro from IMA. Excuse the poor photo quality.
It does look like it's in above average condition, especially for a Brazillian. Did someone put white-out in the markings?
From the serial number, it would have shipped in 1946, per Roy Jinks. I also have one of these later ones in very good condition. Obviously, they avoided service in WWII so it seems logical that these late ones are often found to be the best of the bunch, condition-wise.
I added the white years before, it's liquid paper and comes out with a little rubbing alcohol and a tooth brush. The later ship date makes sense since the mismatched cylinder is a 208xxx (don't have it in front of me). Not sure if it's in "above average" condition! I remembered it in 'relic' condition. I'll likely clean the grips with some mineral spirits, remove the white lettering, and shoot it....a lot.
Note...the grips are original and serialed to the frame.
Nice one. I have a similar 1946 Brazilian with a couple of pieces from some other gun, and it is one of my favorite shooters. I'm glad you got this one back.
