Default 38 special ctg

Just found this forum and thought this would be the place. Trying to determine age of a 38. Right side of barrel says "38 S & W Special CTG" On right side below cylinder it says "Made in USA Marcas Registradas Smith Wesson Springfield MASS. There is a large S W trademark stamp below the trigger. Stamped on the bottom of the handle is
D133xxx. Open the cylinder and stamped in front of the cartridge holder is 95257 and below that a backwards C. Also stamped MOD 10 5. On the left side of the barrel is says SMITH & WESSON. Six shot cyclinder, barrel from front to front of cyclinder is approx 5"

Any insight as to the age or history of this would be greatly appreciated.

You have the ID, it's a model 10-5 - it can be hard to sort that out with all the stampings. The D133000 serial number puts it as a 1969 or '70 ship date. The other marks are factory internal codes.

It is a K or medium frame gun and was the standard LE sidearm for many years; yours was one in the fourth million of this type of gun produced since 1899, and it is still being made. Enjoy!
