Pre-14 old girl gots new shoes
Granted, these are not period-correct for a pre-14, but I wanted something that looked nice for range use. They are some 80s vintage targets, refinished a bit... Once I can afford some 50s era targets, these will probably go onto my 681.

I've been looking for a set of 50's target grips for a while now and there few and far between. I need a set for my pre 14. Right now its got a set of smooth presentation grips that look ok but I know how sweeet it would be with the correct target grips. Anyboudy out there got a nice set they want to part with PM me thanks,
Bob

While not correct for that K-38, those are a nice-looking set of stocks. I like red-toned Goncalo Alves and the speedloader cutout, while perhaps not as pretty as the more traditional "football" relief, is functional. Nice choice.

They had a horrible looking red varnish on em, couldn't see any woodgrain at all. I stripped that, put two BLO handrubbed coats on, then used formby's high gloss tung oil finish on top of that. All an experiment really, rather happy with how they turned out.
Those targets beat the risk of messing up the numbers matching diamond standard grips that came with it.

Those are nice. They look like they "belong" on that gun.
Although not period correct they should be more than
functional and give the gun a cool factor.

Hello Cpt. Obvious
Those look nice on your gun, but depending on what year your gun was made it could have had Relieved or Non relieved Target diamond center stock's like mine does that shipped in March 1953 and is shown below. Regards, Hammerdown

Hello Cpt. Obvious
My serial number is a later than yours like 20,000, and we all know that guns did not ship acording to their serial number's back then, but it is that much Later than your's and being that K-Frames were fast mover's back then that I feel it would be safe to say that your gun would have shipped with a set of Non-Relieved Target stock's like mine is shown with. Mine are of Gancalo-Alves but they made them in Rosewood and Walnut as well back then. I hope this helps, Hammerdown

Thats what I figured as well. I really want to keep the numbers matching magnas safe, so until I find some, and can afford them, non-relieved targets, these newer ones will have to do.

I was lucky enough to find a pair of non-relieved diamond targets and had them redone by DWFAN to top off my 1951 K38.

Capt. old girls like to have a facelift once and a while! She looks good! I had diamond targets on my 1905- 4th, (1919) for years. Looked good, and functional too. Bob
