Default .38 Regulation Police

Hello! I just bought this nice Regulation Police. It is a great little shooter, and in very good condition. It appears to have some holster wear, but little indication of frequent firing. The serial number is 688XX. Cheers!

I don't suppose you would allow it to be torn from your grasp...
for the right compensation?

Nice specimen of the postwar transitional RP. That one was probably shipped around 1952. Some features changed with the I-frame redesign that culminated in the Model of 1953, but I like the lines of the prewar and early postwar guns a little better.

Some people will tell you that the .38 S&W is a wimpy round, but I wouldn't want to be hit by one. It's true that the .38 S&W is a little less powerful than the .38 Special, but it is still heavy enough to do damage when properly placed. Remember that the British armed forces relied on a version of this cartridge for over half a century.

I was surprised when I fired it the first time. The recoil was a bit more than I anticipated. Neuropathy and arthritis in my hands pushed me toward the mild recoiling handguns, like the 38 S&W. I load my own, due to the astronomical prices on the factory ammo! My daughter really likes it and does quite well with it. I think I will hang on to it!

Thanks for the timeline. I was wondering about its age.
