Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Well, they aren't seen every day but they aren't hen's teeth quite yet. They show up every now and then on eBay. You may also find them in the Classifieds forum here.

First, you need to define your parameters. Are you looking for original or repro, wood or rubber, round butt or square (ie target or Regulation Police) etc? For example, I just jumped on a used original set of RP grips, the old round to square on this board.
They’re out there but you have to look. They do show up on “For Sale - Accessories” on this board as well as the various auction boards.

Original. No repros. Round. What would a guy expect to pay for a set of Originals?
Glad to know they are still around. Was told at a gun show guy that does Grips they were not to be found.

Which I frame grips you need depends on the vintage. Do you need pre war round tops, mini Magnas (from prior to 1953), or the 1/8” longer Magnas from after 1953? And that’s just round butt grips.

Hard rubber? There were several models that have I frame round butt rubber stocks. 38 Single Action, 38 Double Action, 38 Safety, 38 Perfected, and 32 HE (1903) all had the same butt-frame. They will all fit and they will never fit quite right. Every gun was hand-fitted right up to WWII taking metal off the butt-frame while taking some material off the stocks to show a perfect fit. This results in a slightly unique fit and shape not often exactly the same.

I'm not going to be able to add much here besides showing what was on my first year of production Model of 1903 when I traded for it... ...Ben

It's not marked as a King, or anything else...The front blade has a punch mark on either side at the muzzle end...When I traded for it, it had red paint on the rear of the blade which I took off with acetone...At the rear it looks as if the rear notch may have been modified from a U-slot to a square notch with a file, but that's only a guess...
The SWHF letter tells me the gun was shipped with hard rubber stocks on 8/4/1903 to Kirkwood Brothers of Boston, Mass. in a single gun shipment...They were a gun shop begun in 1874 by my research...This was a high end shop specializing in finer shotguns and rifles for the sporting crowd of the day...I can only speculate that since it was a single gun order, and the stag grips are very well fitted, it may have originally been ordered for one of the shop's owners, or maybe one of their customers as a personal carry piece...
The star on the butt and the date of 11/18 on the left grip frame indicate it went back to S&W for unknown work and perhaps a refinish at that time...I always meant to research Kirkwood Brothers further, but time is not my friend...My apologies to the OP, I didn't mean to hijack your thread... ...Ben

Not originals, but there are replica hard rubber grips readily available that are made of plastic that look close to original. Made for .38 DAs, etc. High condition original hard rubber grips may be difficult to come by. Products Archive - Page 2 of 17 - vintagegungrips.com

A set of what? I do not believe you ever explained what style stocks you needed? It was the basis of several unanswered questions asked here.
