Lightbulb The Rarely Seen Factory Birdseye Maple smooth J-Sq. Magna's

Hello All
While at a recent small gun show I came across a set of the Rarely Seen Factory smooth Magna's in Bird's Eye Maple. I had seen this style of stock before in pictures but never came across a set. I paid the vendor his asking price of $30.00 for them. Once I got home I decided to re-profile them as I do not have any Square J-Frame revolvers, and I did not care about the collectible value of them, as I wanted them to be on my daily carry revolver. They are older stock's as seen by the black Medallion washer's shown on the rear of them. I took my daily carry Model 431 P.D. revolver chambered in .32 H&R Magnum and used it's frame to trace the lines over onto these. I then used my scroll saw and sawed the profile for a round butt revolver frame, and spent many hours sanding them down to resemble what a set of Round butt Magna's would look like fitting them to my revolver. I then applied a semi gloss finish to them as they are shown before and after I finished with them below, now being a round butt set of stock's showing a lot more grain definition...I have to get some pictures of them on my daily carry piece 431 P.D. revolver as they show up very well on my blued revolver...

How they looked when I bought them in Square butt configuration

The Tracing before I cut them down to fit a Round Butt-J-Frame

How they turned out once I cut them down and refinished them...

Nice work. I'll bet they look good on your 431 PD.

Sounds like to me you missed a prime opportunity to buy a "new to you" square j-frame revolver. Nice work on the grips BTW.
