Finally Snagged My Pre-27
Hello Friends,
Some have seen this one before but it is new to me
and my First Pre-27. Shipped 1954 and served with
Sheriffs Dept. in NY state. 3 1/2" bbl as i've been searching
for. Some good honest wear from being carried as a duty
piece. But in Very Good condition overall. A big Thanks
goes out to Steve, forum member.
It will hold it's place of honor beside my 27-2's with 3 1/2"
and 4" bbls.
The Pre-27 was bought with the fine G. Lawerence Leather case shown in last photo.
Chuck

I'm surprised that he turned it loose. When I first saw it, I thought about e-mailing him and asking about buying just the case. Coulda, shoulda. Story of my life. Congratulations! I am seriously envious.

I like it a lot! A good looking S&W - with some history. Let us know how it shoots.
Thanks,

Curtis,
Not exactly sure. It did'nt letter with the ring. Must have been
an "officers preference" addition. It does fit nicely between the "S" and the numbers on the grip frame. Guess i'll leave it alone as it's part of the history of this Revolver.
Here's a picture: Thanks to Chuck Odom

What a beautiful revolver Chuck. I remember seeing it before and being envious as its my favorite S&W model. I'm happy that you were able to pick it up.

Congrats to you Chuck, those are beautiful. I really like that Magnum with it's history and with the lanyard and T grip. The GL case speaks for itself.

That is a REALLY cool revolver, and the lanyard ring just adds to the "coolness factor". Yours was made the same year as one I just received.

Chuck, the 3.5" pre-27 is one of my all-time favor revolvers and that is a really nice example. Best part is, you won't feel bad shooting it. Congratulations!

Thanks to all.
I do plan on shooting it as i do all my 27's.
Have no idea on the true age of the case.
According to their website, from the label, it was made
sometime between the 1940's and 1980's so pretty wide
time frame. This is my first Pre-27 and when comparing it
to my 27-2's it's interesting to see the higher quality blueing
and the higher quality in the stocks as well.
Much richer deeper finish on the blueing and the grain and finish
of the stocks are so much nicer than either of my -2 guns.
Thanks to all for the compliments. I'm merely a caretaker of
these fine weapons for a short time and i intend to do my best
so future shooters will get to enjoy them as well.
Chuck

It's a 90F Imperial gun case which first appeared in a 1961 Lawrence catalogue. That info courtesy of member turnerriver.

Chuck what a great combination your Pre- 27 and Lawrence case make. I'm glad that it ended up with someone who will continue to care for it.
