Default 1917 .45ACP Holster (1918 build)

Im interested in a "proper" holster as opposed to some generic for 5.5 in. barrel. Do I want a flap? Nylon? Kydex? Leather? Suggestions and knowledge appreciated. Best

If you referring to the military issue holster, it is a leather flap version with US embossed on the outside, meant to be worn butt forward on the right hip. Here is a thread...

For a 'field' holster, a flap is recommended. Now that you mention it, I'm interested in a period 'civilian' holster.

I had El Paso Saddlery make me a leather WWI belt holster for my 1917. They have "blue gun" model of the 1917 in house so it has a custom fit. They can make a "civie" holster as well. For a civie holster, take a look at their "Tom Threeperson" or their "Austin" models.

You can get a reproduced WWI holster and the 3 pouch ammo pouch for half-moon clips from Pacific Canvas. Very inexpensive and excellent quality. Google for reviews and website.

At one time, International Military Antiques sold a replica holster for the 1917 that was of superb quality. I do not know if they still do
