Default 1961 Model 29 with Partridge front sight

I just got my letter back on my M29 from 1961. It has a Partridge front sight. According to the letter, it left from the factory that way. Is this unusual?

That looks like one of the 33 issued to the sniper units of the lower slobbovian army. And their issued ones still had the patridge attached.

I was going to be one of those ranters, although I would have done it silently to myself; instead I got a chuckle. Well played, Sir.

Looks like the sight picture would be a little fuzzy. What's the rear sight lined with?

So for Christmas are we going to get cards with a picture of a Patridge in a pear tree? I don't think I have a loose one lying around and somehow a Sheard in a pear tree just won't cut it.

The best part of this forum for me is the opportunity to see pictures of uncommon variations of the different models that I might otherwise never come across. So I am glad I was able to provide an interesting example myself. Thanks to all who expressed their interest.

Been looking for a good, quiet "worm gun", tough little varmints, that there ought to be just the ticket.
