K38 Combat Masterpiece 38 special ?>??
Ok my S&W K-38 Combat Masterpiece finally arrived. I'm not sure what year it is nor how much its really worth. I read on the net that some of these can be worth up to $1,500? The serial number is K27304X. So far i figure its between 1955 and 1957 but i'm not sure? Its in 95%+ condition with a tad of wear on the muzzle from a holster otherwise the bluing is 100% on therest of the k 38.

Looks to be 1956 by the SWSC.
Congrats on your new K38, I pickup a 5 screw ('54) a couple of months ago and I have been having a blast with it! $475 OTD, but I'd say 95% at best.
I don't think either yours or mine is worth $1500, but they are worthwhile.
------------oh, and------------

Mine has a 4" barrel and its a 4 screw. Its a very nice 38 special revolver. I purchased it for me but the misses can hold it so its not too big for her to learn with. I need to load my camera setup my son has to do it. Soon i hope. Bill

Well, maybe you do have valuable one- I don't know as much as others here, but I know that a 4" bbl. is not standard. Get some photos up and I'm sure the experts will give you a evaluation

Just search the net for S&W K38 combat masterpiece and the you tube post will come up. Thats my 4" k38 he is explaining about.
I'm not sure which one of these is the more valuable one but i like this one for sure and i'm going after the k38 6" barreled 38 special target model too soon.

I have two and will gladly take $1500 for each. I'll even throw in a 22 CM for another $1200. Such a deal!

Me too but i'm not sure what year they were talking about. These are awesome 38 special revolvers. My misses has no problem shooting it in double action. I want to get her to put down the taurus m94 22lr revolver soon and move to the K-38 in 38spec. I hope. Bill
BTW; I'm seeing the 6" barrel K38 version priced between $500 to $800 at some sights.
