Not even close to the others, but it's mine nontheless. Buffed out and nickeled. Shipped in '31, awaiting a letter. All numbers match except of course the stocks.
Are these genyouwhine MOP's?

The Model of 1926 sure is gratifying to shoot.
Guess I stick up the updated photos of mine with its new/old stocks obtained from lowhog over here on the real 1926 photo thread. The revolver sports most all of its July of 1974 factory refinish.

Need to letter this one. 1927-1930 time frame, nice post-factory nickle. More about it here: Is this a .44 HE 3rd Model?

Sorry for the delay on this.
Edgar McMordie was the officers name. He enlisted in the Rangers 3 different times and was also Sheriff in Coryell County for awhile. If memory serves, he died in 1941? My grandmother got the revolver after his widow died circa 1974? I was 5-6-7 or something like that when she got the gun. I don't know the why's or how's, and all the people to ask are long gone now.
The gun went into the safe deposit box until 2012 (11?) when my mom closed them out and we removed all the valuables. I cleaned the gun up and bought a box of .44 and immediately went out to shoot it! Most likely the gun was not fired from 1941 until I shot it in 2012. I know it lived in the bank from '74-2012.
I occasionally carry it in the original holster(the belt that goes with the holster fits me but I don't want to rip the buckle holes out as it's reasonably thin so I use a modern belt). It is a very sweet shooter and as anybody who has had a pre-war Smith knows, it causes the disease!

This one came in today. Shipped 3/9/31 to Wolf & Klar for the Houston Police Dept. Started out blue, but refinished to nickel along the way. I added the ivories. Marked HPD 38 on back strap. I'm Smiling big time. Timing is dead on. Not shot her ... yet.

Six weeks ago I didn't have a 1926. Then this happened.
(The short nickel is a first shipment to W&K and the 5" nickel is a second shipment)
There was a question that was asked and answered but here's a side-by-side of a 1927 shipped and a 1931 shipped.
And I think the 5" was an even more serious BBQ set-up at one point

What a fine opportunity for me to post mine to this thread also. It also sports the wrong stocks and has an "upgraded" rear site and hammer with a return to the factory stamp under the stocks in 5.54.

Here's My 1926 W&K BBQ Gun
Here's my 1926 W&K, probably the most honked up 3rd Model on the Forum! I've posted this revolver before because I turned it into my BBQ gun. Back in the day (1940s or 50s?), a previous owner had the half-moon front sight removed, added a ramp and Baughman sight, then had the revolver re-nickeled. Anyway, it is still an early 3rd Model, shipped to W&K in May 1927. I paid ~$700 for it, but I had Ford's gunsmith check out/tune the interior, traded the much later Magnas for some Pat Grashorn stag stocks, and Bob Mernickle made a cross-draw holster for me. It's a good .44 Spl. shooter and sure looks purty.

Hawg Rider, the rib on your .44 looks real good. Most of the ones that I have seen like that were so-so on the installation.

Posted this gun earlier but recently I added a set of ivories I got for $125 because the seller couldn't figure what they fit. Pre-war N frame, apparently.

S/Ns and Shipping Dates
Thanks Muley Gil, the 'smith did do a fine job of installing the ramp & sight but I wish he hadn't polished it quite so much before the re-nickel.
Interesting to note that my 3rd Model (s/n 29803) shipped in May 1927, and its sister, belonging now to crsides (s/n 30792), shipped over a year later in July 1928. Only 989 s/n's between them and they shipped 14 mos. apart. Must have depended upon the timing of W&K's special orders.

I don't think this one has been posted yet. 4" original nickle, came with HBH and pre-war magnas numbered to the gun. It now sports giraffe bone stocks with 1/2" medallions.
I have not lettered it but as I recall, Roy said it shipped in 1940.
