What do you think of this S&W Factory Letter?
A few months ago I purchased a Smith & Wesson Model 1905 Fourth Change (Ser. 735,XXX) from another forum member who had it posted for sale in the classified section here. Received what I consider to be a very interesting Canadian military marked gun and couldn’t have been more pleased with the transaction. Subsequently, I decided to pay to get a factory letter for it which arrived today and is pictured below. Though it contains some very interesting general information I am honestly a bit disappointed that the letter did not reference my exact serial number anywhere. It would have been helpful to have my specific serial number included somewhere. Also, knowing the year of manufacture of my gun would have been appreciated or at least some reference as to when my gun shipped from the factory. Lastly, the letter was badly creased as it shipped in a totally unsupported envelope and even a thin cardboard sleeve would have most likely prevented this damage from occurring. Now, I realize these are overall fairly small complaints but as such they easily could have been avoided by Smith & Wesson as well. If cost was the issue then I would have paid more and yes, I realize that Mr. Jinks is most likely overwhelmed with requesst for letters. However, I would be interested in any opinions others may have...Did I get my money's worth here?

I'm thinking you only got page one. There should have been an additional page which has a paragraph which addresses your particular serial number. If you contact Roy and explain your quandry, I bet he will be happy to help you out.

This, ^^^^^ What he said. Your missing the second page which
gives you info on your gun with the serial number included.
Contact Roy and he'll make it right....

Smith17 is correct. The second page of your letter is missing. The factory letters are mostly general information on the first page, and reserve details about the specific serial number, including shipment date and destination, for the final paragraph.

I would say that you got about $200 worth of information for $50. If the condition of the letter is poor due to bad handling by the USPS, then I would contact Roy explaining the situation and I am sure that he will reissue the letter at no charge.

Most of the British Commonwealth revolvers were built with 5" barrels. The 6" length makes yours a bit more special.
