New 5-screw k-22 - manufacture date?
All,
I just picked up a 5-screw k-22 combat masterpiece, SN 13426x. Can one of you please tell me when it was manufactured? I really appreciate it.
It's a 90% gun - just about perfect for me. Nice enough to still look good, not so nice that I mind carrying it around and actually using it.
Thanks,
SR

Probably shipped 1952, maybe very late 1951.
Those .22 CMs are outstanding revolvers. I can shoot mine more accurately than the longer barrel models.

David,
Thanks for the information. I was guessing around that time frame based on some other threads, but I wanted to ask to be sure.
I have a pre-war 6" that is in pretty rough shape. It belongs to a friend but I've been carrying it around for a few months. I had to pick up one of my own.

Congrats on your own K22 !
You didnt mention if it has the original numbered Magna grips ?
My closest K22's to yours are K 134151 and K135966 and both have
dark grey plastic grip medallions instead of nickeled brass that appeared briefly in that era .
If you have the original grips and another pare to compare see if you notice this as well.
I could post a picture comparing the two styles but it doesnt really show up on photographs too well.

My grips are not original to the gun. They are S&W factory grips, but later.
I will post a picture later when I get a chance.
