Sounds like a 32 regulation Police pre war.
Post some pictures.

I'm gonna say a 1930s vintage Regulation Police. Additional info that would be helpful;
1) barrel length - measure from cylinder face to muzzle
2) finish - blue or nickel?
3) grips - metal medallion @ top or no, do they come down below the steel grip frame and end as a flat surface?

You say it appears unfired, is there anything else with the gun, such as the original box, tools or instructions? All of this adds to the value.

As has been said, pictures are nice!

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum!

Froggie

Welcome to the forum.

The barrel stamping is 32 S&W CTG for cartridge. The model # you gave from inside the yoke is an assembly number. It only had a model name until 1957 when it became the Mod 31.
I agree it sounds like a pre war Model 32 Regulation Police, 1929-30s era .
Serial # on the forestrap, square but wood stocks, probably 4 1/4" barrel.
Mushroom shaped extractor rod head or barrel shaped?
An unfired gun of that age is not impossible, just improbable; have you evaluated for a refinish? This will make a big difference in value.

A very fun gun to shoot.

Welcome to the forum! I have a .32 Hand Ejector Regulation Police that is probably its sister. If it has a round butt, it is not a RP, just a Hand Ejector .32 Third Model. The highest serial number was 536684. So, yours was produced toward the end of production.
