Default Im Back!!

Hello Folks-

Where to start-

I have been busy w/ other endeavors and have neglected my brothers and sisters on this forum. It seems that my lack of participation has negatively impacted my credibility based on someone’s recent post. Oh well!
It seems others have gone to the dark side and imagined all kinds of nefarious plotting.

The simple truth is that the owner of this gun is a nice, down to earth guy who doesn’t care if he found the “Holy Grail”. This gun was brought to my attention because of my passion for old Smiths through Greg at Eddy’s Shooting Sports. I asked permission from the owner to share this gun with you for info and answers in our continuing quest on our mutual journey in all things- Smith & Wesson.

On this journey, I talked w/ members with connections to the Star Chamber and was advised to be cautious and wary regarding the provenance of this gun.
Forum experts initially called this gun a fake- need more info, pics, measurements, thread dimensions, etc. Then ownership came into question. The Star Chamber wanted it back. I was given back channel preliminary info that this gun had some provenance. Like you, I waited for the info to surface- No Joy!!

Greg and I were asked to encourage the owner to surrender the gun temporarily for study. We were led to belief that the Arsenal wanted to study it. When the owner personally contacted the Arsenal, they had no record of the gun or correspondence associated with it.

We were on a quest for information and providence of this gun, not to value it. Over the life of this thread, the owner stayed true to himself. He has a piece of history that unfortunately will be his alone. He has no intention of selling it. Who knows where this gun will be in decades to come. I haven’t spoken to the owner since Covid became the “Game of Thrones”. I hope he is well.
I salute the members who have endured and enjoyed this quest and I hold dear the many conversations I had w/ members OTR.

Cheers,

Mike
