Default My Favorite Long Range Blaster.

I purchased this about eight years ago for the princely sum of $400. It never had the correct stocks so after a few different pair I settled on the Coke's it wears now. They were a pair that had been sadly mishandled and I restored them to my particular tastes. Not everyone likes satin gloss but I do. I may even finger groove them in the near future. With 125 grain copper plated reloads I've consistently rang the gong at a hundred yards or better. I intend to send her back to S&W this winter and have her reblued and a Patridge front sight installed. It does nothing for the value of the gun but it will sure make me happy. Pre 27, TT, TH, SN S140636. Drew has a special name for this gun which cannot be spoken here but I find it very endearing.

I like that. I have a 8 3/8" 29-2 and like that long barrel. I recently passed, now kicking myself over it, on a 27-2 with 8 3/8" in the presentation box with everything.

For what it's worth, I love those grips. Nice gun too, by the way.

Very nice! I'll be interested in seeing the results of the factory reblue.

Thumbs up

Paul:

You're a man after my own heart on caliber, barrel length, frame and shape of stocks. My favorite Blaster is a well-used, 8.375" Pre 27, (S168864), with Coke-shaped period correct smooth Rosewood presentation stocks, and a Patridge front sight:

I too have thought of getting this one refinished. I'm excited to see how yours turns out. Keep us posted.

Thanks for sharing,
