Was passing through Florence, SC yesterday and on a whim stopped by the gun show at the convention center having never been there before.
Pretty standard for the shows I'm used to seeing with plastic pistols, AKs and ARs galore, jewlery (thankfully there was a separate coin show elsewhere in the facility) and lots of the latest seeming rage - "fun with para-cord projects".
A couple of 'so-so' prices on S&W revolvers (fair looking 19 snub for under 5 bills) but one gent was displaying a 3.5" registered magnum in good condition with a factory letter verifying it's configuration for the initial asking price of $3,200. The bad news was after I pinned him down he admitted that it looked to him, too (since I mentioned it) like the cylinder had possibly been re-blued. It was close and not grievous, but didn't look quite original to me though I have been known to be mistaken a few brief times in my life.
I myself had about as much chance of leaving with it as I did the Jaguar I saw in the parking lot on the way in, but I pass it on since in further conversation with him I discovered he apparently is not a member here or someone who even visits this forum.
From my meager knowledge of registered magnums I thought that someone in the market among our cadre might find it worthwhile to check it out. While not a great price, for what it was that didn't seem crazy, especially if the cylinder was the original finish. Just thought I'd pass it on.
BTW - his partner at the same table had a great looking set of K frame diamond target grips I looked at - beautiful wood and in 95-98% condition for $150 - didn't need them but you always hold out the hope someone will say "I'd have to have at least $75 for those"
, but he knew what he had, so I thanked him and moved on.
