Default Older K22 revolver grips ?

I recently got a smokin' deal on a very nice S/W K22 revolver { manufactured in 1948 } and the gun itself is in excellent original condition. However it has a set of older / larger factory wood target grips installed that are in ok, but not great condition .I would like to replace them with the smaller style wood grips that are usually seen on most of these K frame .22 revolvers.
Can anyone can tell me if any factory K frame wood grip will fit this gun, or there are only certain styles , years , etc that will work without modification ? Thanks in advance !

The correct period grips have a high shoulder. Into the 1950s the profile became more rounded up at the top. I know that's hard to visualize, but the frame is pretty much the same regardless of year. Its up near the top where the grips go over the frame that is different than later years. If you watch the classifieds you should find pictures of the different styles. Any up until 1968 will have the diamond around the screw hole.

Next time we have a battle over low number K22s, look at the pix. Or go back in time to find a Picture of Drew's K117 (he's a scoundrel).
