The 63 is stainless, was introduced in 1977, and the serial number range starts with M. If your gun just has a number, instead of one (or more) letters and then a number - like M3249 or ML4452 - then it is not a 63.

If it is a 63, it should be stamped, inside the yoke/crane/whatever that is MOD 63, or maybe MOD 63- something.

But if your serial number is just a number, and it does not have the model number stamped on it, it sounds like you may have a nickel 22/32 Kit Gun.

That is presuming you actually have a Smith and Wesson, and not a copy - Taurus, Rossi, Eibar, etc.

That looks like a post-war 22/32 Kit Gun. The serial numbers are waaay off, though. I think you may be looking at the wrong number. Is the one you gave - 1210 6 - stamped on the bottom of the grip?

Also, a pic of the other side would help. 4 screw or 5 screw.

rwalker,

What you have is a 4" (Measure full length, not from the frame face) Model 1953 .22-32 Kit Gun from the early-mid 1950s. Since you put a space between the 1210 and 6 I have to assume that number came from inside the yoke cut. This would be the assembly number and is of no use in dating the gun. The date range is between 1953 and 1957, the year this would become the Model 34. If it was a Model 34 it would be so stamped in the yoke cut.
